Learning is an active and collaborative process best accomplished in classrooms that promote discussion and interaction between students and faculty. Thanks to the iFLEX classroom initiative, or Illinois Flexible Learning Experience, close to 300 faculty and 7,000 Illinois students have experienced the newest classrooms on campus.

Designed to encourage student-centered learning and collaboration, iFLEX classrooms are equipped with:

  • reconfigurable furniture
  • multiple writing surfaces
  • wall-mounted monitors for visibility from any angle
  • enhanced technologies

New iFLEX classrooms are designed to meet a wide range of teaching needs and student expectations, demonstrating how the design of a classroom impacts the teaching and learning processes. As colleges and departments continue to provide opportunities for student collaboration, it’s certain that a commitment to learning spaces at Illinois will remain front and center.
