The Illinois Neurodiversity Initiative at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is expecting its second class of students for the 2023 fall semester. INI promotes neuro-divergent students’ success at college and in the workplace by offering a variety of supports and services.
The Illinois Neurodiversity Initiative supports students with conditions in which the brain functions, learns, and stores information differently. Among the program’s services are regular mental health support, peer social mentorship, a course in academic strategies and a preemployment seminar that connects students with potential employers.
INI was launched last fall as a pilot program with an inaugural cohort of 10 students – including some sophomores – who had a variety of majors, including business and engineering.
